Editorial standards

Baskin Logic News collects headlines; it does not write news or take positions. These rules are applied automatically to every story, and they are the same for every coin, company and country.

1. Verification

• Stories from different outlets about the same event are grouped together.
• A story is marked ✔ VERIFIED only when at least two independent major outlets or established crypto newsrooms report it, or an official primary source (regulator, central bank, court, protocol or company announcement) publishes it.
• Everything else is ◔ DEVELOPING and is kept in a separate lane. Developing stories are never shown as Breaking or Top and never trigger alerts.
• Low-credibility sites, aggregators and unrated outlets are shown with a label but never count toward verification. Sponsored posts, press releases and “coins to buy” promotions are labeled Sponsored/PR and are never verified.
• Every verified story lists each confirming outlet, its type and its home region, with first-reported and last-updated times and a link to read it at the source.
• Verification shows that independent outlets agree a story exists. It does not prove every detail; always read the originals.

2. Neutrality

• We never rewrite or editorialize headlines. Headlines are shown exactly as each publisher wrote them, linked to the original.
• Loaded wording flag. When a headline uses hype or alarm words (for example “soars”, “crash”, “bloodbath”, “massive”), we show “⚠ Loaded wording” so readers can check the facts in the sources.
• Common to all reports. For verified stories we show the names and figures that appear in at least two independent headlines. It is assembled mechanically from the sources’ own words, with no AI and no opinion added.
• Balanced sources. We monitor outlets from 12 regions and from different perspectives: official sources, mainstream and general news, crypto-native newsrooms, industry and research groups, and skeptical or critical writers. The live list, with each source’s region and type, is on the sources page.
• No ranking by opinion. Order is by verification and time, never by whether news is good or bad for any coin. Nobody can pay to appear or rank higher, and there are no ads.
• No picks or signals. Education only. Not investment advice. We do not pick coins.

Data tools

Liquidations, long/short and funding come from one exchange’s public API (OKX) and are a sample, not the whole market. Stablecoin and DeFi figures come from DefiLlama. Whale moves are raw Bitcoin transactions with unlabeled addresses. Narrative counts measure how many different publishers cover a theme, not whether it is true or which way prices go. Reader votes are opinions, one per visitor per story, and never affect which stories are verified or ranked. Price charts mark when verified stories were first reported; timing is not cause.

3. Corrections and removals

If a publisher deletes a story (its link returns “not found”), we flag it on the corrections log. Mistakes in our labels or tags can be reported to joshuabaskin@baskinlogiccrypto.com and are fixed within 2 business days.
