Sources & methodology
Every few minutes our server reads public RSS and Atom feeds from crypto newsrooms, mainstream finance outlets, regulators (SEC, CFTC, FCA, ESMA), central banks (Federal Reserve, ECB, Bank of England, Bank of Canada, RBA) and regional outlets across 12 regions. Live source health is on the status page.
- What we show: headline, source, time and a short excerpt from the publisher’s own feed, with a link to the original. We never copy full articles.
- Relevance: general finance and government feeds are filtered by keywords, so only stories that can affect digital assets (crypto, rates, inflation, regulation, payments and similar) appear.
- Source tiers: Official primary (regulators, central banks, protocol and company announcements), major outlets & wires (e.g. Reuters, AP, Bloomberg, FT, BBC, Economic Times), established crypto newsrooms (e.g. CoinDesk, The Block, Decrypt), low-credibility or aggregator sites (shown, never used to confirm) and unrated outlets (shown, never used to confirm). Sponsored posts, press releases and “coins to buy” promotions are labeled Sponsored/PR and are never verified.
- Verification: stories are grouped into clusters. A cluster is ✔ VERIFIED only when at least 2 independent major or crypto-newsroom publishers report it, or an official primary source publishes it. Everything else is ◔ DEVELOPING and shown in its own lane. Developing stories never appear as Breaking or Top and never trigger alerts. Each story shows “Confirmed by N sources” with links to every one, plus first-reported and last-updated times. Verification is automatic and checks that independent sources agree a story exists; it does not prove every detail is correct, so always read the originals.
- Retractions: if a publisher removes a story from its feed while the feed still covers that time period, we flag it on the corrections log as “removed by the publisher”.
- Duplicates: the same story from several outlets is merged and the extra outlets are listed. A verified story confirmed by 2+ independent sources within 3 hours is marked Breaking and can trigger an alert.
- Categories, coins and regions are tagged automatically by keywords and may sometimes be wrong.
- No paid placement. No source pays to appear, and we do not rank coins or give signals.
- Market data: CoinGecko (CoinCap backup), alternative.me Fear & Greed, OKX and Bybit public derivatives data, mempool.space and DefiLlama. Delayed up to about 5 minutes.
Corrections policy
We don’t write the stories, so corrections to an article belong to its publisher. If we mislabel, mis-tag or link the wrong story, email joshuabaskin@baskinlogiccrypto.com and we fix it within 2 business days. Publishers can ask to be removed at any time.
How we rank
Newest first. The default view shows only verified stories, newest update first. A verified story is Breaking when 2+ independent sources confirm it within 3 hours, and Important when it is about regulation, macro, a hack or ETFs/institutions, or has several confirmations. Developing stories have their own lane and are never ranked as Breaking. Nobody can pay to rank higher.
